Congratulations upon being accepted to Apollo's Lyre Drama Academy! Our staff shall do its best to provide you with a rewarding and beneficial experience on your road to a career in theatre. As with every academy, we do have some rules and regulations that you must follow while here as a student. Be certain to read these carefully!
1. Upon being accepted into Apollo's Lyre, each student shall receive an assigned dorm. Each dorm has two students and are of the same sex. NO CO-ED DORMS ARE ALLOWED!
2. During academy time(9 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday) NO visitors shall be allowed in student dorms. Exceptions can be made but must be cleared through the academy administration. Any violation of this rule shall result in a student receiving a warning.
3. NO men shall be allowed in the female dorms and NO women in the male dorms. Exceptions can be made in emergency circumstances or for family(brothers, sisters etc) but again MUST be cleared through the academy adminstration. Any student caught breaking this rule shall receive a warning or could be expelled.
4. All students must be in their dorm buildings no later then 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Exceptions to this rule are for performances, rehearsels, emergencies or special events on campus. On the weekends(Friday-Saturday) students may leave their dorm rooms after 10 p.m. on Friday but may not return until the following day(9 a.m.) as the building shall be locked at midnight.
5. Any student who wishes to leave their dorm buildings after 10 p.m.(Monday-Thursday) MUST contact campus security BEFORE leaving. Failure to do this will result in a warning or possible suspension up to expulsion.
6. Proper behavior is an expectation of all our students here at Apollo's Lyre. Any inappropriate behavior(lewdness, sexual, destructive or violent in nature) will NOT be tolerated and may result in suspension or expulsion
7. ALL students must report to their classes Monday-Friday unless properly excused. Faillure to do so will result in the lowering of their grade.
8. The time between 3:00-6:00 Monday-Friday is for individual instruction for a student's elective by their teacher. IF that student is not receiving instruction on that day then they MUST devote that time to study
9. We have a library located on campus for all student research needs from books to media. The hours are Monday- Friday 9:00 - 8:00 and Saturday-Sunday 12:00-9:00
10. A student center is located on campus for social purposes. It contains a recreational area for things such as sports, fitness and even a swimming pool. There is a small charge for students in regards to renting any kind of equipment such as basketballs, volleyballs etc. The center also contains a cafeteria, vending machines and even a small theatre for showing films on Friday and Saturday nights. The hours for the student center are 9:00 - 8:00 Monday-Thursday, 9:00 - 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The recreational area is open from 12:00 - 8:00 Monday-Friday and 9:00 - 5:00 on Saturday. Hours of the student center may change from time to time to accomodate student activities on campus.
11. For those students who wish to drive, there is a parking lot specifically for student parking only located behind the student center. A permit is required and can be obtained at campus security at no cost with proper student identification
12. We believe that peace and serenity is important for all of our students which is why we provide a garden area. It is located near the dorms building. The hours for the garden are 9:00 - 6:00 Monday- Sunday. The hours may change according to activities on campus or for maintenance
13. Students are allowed to leave campus ONLY after 6:00 p.m. on Fridays and MUST return no later then Sunday at 10:00 p.m. Exceptions to this rule can be made for class field trips or emergencies that are cleared through administration staff
14. The grading system for Apollo's Lyre is as follows:
A (4.0-3.9) A- (3.8-3.5) B+ (3.4-3.2) B (3.1-2.9) B- (2.8-2.5) C+ (2.4-2.2) C (2.1-1.9) C- (1.8-1.5) D+ (1.4-1.2) D (1.1-0.9) D- (0.8-0.7)
15. Student punishments are as follows:
0 - 3 warnings written on student file
4th warning - suspension
More then 4 warnings - expulsion
The adminstration of Apollo's Lyre has the ability to decide a students punishment at their own discretion
